Intel Ireland, in partnership with Engineers Ireland, is proud to announce their continued collaboration to inspire future engineers.

At the forefront of this collaboration is Intel’s support of the STEPS programme, which aims to promote interest in STEM subjects and engineering as a future career to both primary and secondary school students and saw involvement from over 100,000 students nationwide last year. Intel has been a sponsor of the STEPS programme for over five years. Through this partnership, Intel has been actively involved in various STEM outreach activities, including judging competitions, organizing events, and conducting interactive career talks.

At the heart of the STEPS programme is the annual Engineers Week celebration. This weeklong initiative, which runs from Saturday, 2 - Friday, 8 March 2024, helps to promote engineering among young minds, highlighting the importance of STEM education and career opportunities in the field.

In addition to STEPS Engineers Week, Intel’s continued support of the STEPS programme will help to inspire the next generation of engineering talent in Ireland through a number of additional initiatives aimed at primary and secondary school students. They include, STEPS Young Engineers Award, a community engineering competition for 8–11-year-olds; STEPS Engineering your Future, which offers transition year students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in an engineering work experience; and STEPS Guides Engineering Badges, which have been developed in partnership with the Irish Girl Guides and encourage girls to explore engineering in a fun and familiar environment.

"Collaborating with Engineers Ireland to inspire future engineers through the STEPS Programme is a source of great pride for Intel Ireland. We are committed to fostering innovation and excellence in STEM education," says Joe English, Fab 34 Factory Manager at Intel Ireland. "Through interactive activities for young learners and initiatives like Engineer’s Week, we hope to showcase the possibilities within science, technology, engineering, and mathematics."

This marks the fifth year of the partnership between Intel Ireland and Engineers Ireland, showcasing their commitment to inspiring the next generation of engineers in Ireland.
