How Intel creates spaces to advance gender and racial equity in STEM education
Why closing the STEM gender gap matters
Intel is making a commitment to advance gender and racial equity in STEM education, to fuel human potential in every community.
When Leslie Espinoza-Campomanes and Vivian Auduong met at the Intel WiSci (Women in Science) Girls STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Camp, they knew they were in the right place. For the camp's final project, they collaborated on the winning idea: a phone case that allows visually impaired people to type in braille. Now, both are studying engineering at Stanford.
Since 2015, WiSci Camps have been made possible thanks to private-public partnerships between Intel, the United Nations Girl Up initiative, the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships, and many other collaborators committed to closing the gender gap in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
