Marie Mullen, Movidius Group, Visual Processing Units
When I heard about the position with the design team at Intel, I knew it would be a perfect fit for me.
I came to Intel just after I finished my PhD. I was looking for a challenging environment where the skills I had gained during the programme would be transferable. I joined the Movidius team, where we design Visual Processing Units. Movidius is working on cutting-edge technology, which I find very interesting. In addition to the work, Intel has great benefits, offers a competitive salary, and lots of extras, like the onsite gym, hairdresser, dentist, and lovely canteens. The people here are wonderful, too. Everyone is really good at what they do and is motivated. It’s a great environment.
What I also enjoy about working at Intel is the ability to see the product through its entire lifecycle, from design to testing to packaging. At Intel, you are with the product from conception to sales. It’s really interesting! This also means you end up working with diverse teams, made up of engineers, designers, and marketers.
At Intel, there are so many projects in the works. You’re never doing the same thing day-to-day. You gain lots of experience and are able to develop your career and potential. The work here is very exciting and varied.
When it comes to balancing your home life with work, Intel is very flexible. If you need to work from home or pick up your kids from school, you have their support. I have a 3-year-old, which makes that flexibility very valuable to me. Having a gym onsite means I can work out at lunchtime and then, after work, I’m able to go straight home to spend time with my child. The work/life balance here is really good. It means the world to me and my family.
I like to know I’m making an impact with my work as I develop skills across multiple spectrums. Working at Intel builds your potential and professional knowledge.
