Intel® Pride of Place Competition
At Intel, we strive to be an asset to our local communities and value our neighbouring towns here in North Kildare, the home of our main campus in Ireland. For a number of years, we have supported our local towns through the Intel® Pride of Place competition and we are excited to announce the launch of the eight year of this community initiative.
About the Competition
The Intel® Pride of Place competition is about supporting projects that enrich the lives of people in our local communities of Leixlip, Celbridge, and Maynooth.
The competition invites people to share their project ideas to help improve local organisations while also benefitting the local community more broadly.
To enter the competition, simply share your idea and explain why it deserves to receive funding from Intel Ireland and how this idea will enrich the lives of people in your community.
A panel of 3-5 judges, made up of business professionals and community representatives, will assess each submission before meeting as a team to deliberate and decide on the winning projects.
A number of ideas will be funded, with up to €5,000 being donated to each of the successful organisations to complete their project.
The application window for the Pride of Place Competition opens on March 21, 2024, and closes on April 19, 2024.
Applications are now closed
What Is a Community Project?
A community project is any idea from an individual or collaborative enterprise that would benefit your local community. Your idea could be anything from encouraging biodiversity in your town or school, to restoring a community area, or supporting an existing club who’d like to expand their services. The most important aspect of the project is that it directly improves your community.
Previous Winning Projects
Here are a handful of projects from local communities and organisations the Pride of Place fund has supported in previous years.
Confey GAA
Confey GAA
Confey GAA in Leixlip intends to construct a ball wall on the club grounds. The ball wall will offer additional training facilities for teams. It will also offer an opportunity for players to train on their own or in small groups, outside regular training times. It will give players an opportunity to improve their skills and they hope it will encourage new players to come join teams.
Leixlip Tidy Towns
Leixlip Tidy Towns
This project will enable the implementation of a recommendation of the Leixlip Biodiversity Action Plan - the banks on either side of the Mass Steps need manual weed clearance and planting with a mix of shrubs and herbaceous perennials that will give good ground cover, thus leaving no room for weeds. This will be the first BAP recommendation to be implemented and will build experience to implement others.
Cedar Park Residents Association
Cedar Park Residents Association
The Pride of Place grant will help to create a community space for the residents of Cedar Park in Leixlip. A space where all ages can enjoy the extensive green space in the estate that is next to the three national schools and St. Mary's GAA Club. With a renewed awareness of the local environment during COVID, it is the Association’s ambition through thoughtful planting to create a garden that will attract bees, butterflies, birds and we will contribute to providing a habitat for biodiversity and a special area for all to enjoy.
